The TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), also known as RDKS (Reifendruck Kontrollsystem), constantly monitors tire pressure and informs the driver about pressure and possibly temperature conditions in each tire.This can potentially prevent a flat tire, reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumption, and extend the life of the tires.
There is a direct system with tire pressure sensors on the valve, or an indirect system that transmits information to the vehicle via ABS or traction control sensors based on wheel speed.
